Default Heater Box/Core Removal

I have decided to pull the heater box and core on my car(65 vert) since it is the only part left on the car and I figured I might as well inspect it while it is somewhat accessible. After close inspection this looks like a job that you can really make some expensive mistakes on if you are not careful.
Anyone care to provide guidance on the proper removal and installation .
Thanks,

John

99.9% are removed from teh engine bay. Be careful removing teh heater hoses from the core. Remove the cover and observe how the clips hold the core in place. Nothing magical about the job.

When you remove the heater hoses from the core nipples, DO NOT just "pull" them off - this is almost guaranteed to crack the solder joints where the nipple tubes join the heater core. Instead, slice the end of the hoses along the axis of the nipples with a box knife and "peel" them carefully off the tubes.

slicing them as John suggests is exactly what I did too - I assume you would be taking the opportunity to refresh the hoses anyway. caveat - don't use the super sharp laser-guided knife, you could really do some damage to the soft metal outlets.
