Default Looking for a posse!

I'm looking for a few individuals who are deadly serious about the correct restoration of the 1981 Corvette both Bowling Green and St. Louis cars. I've got a ton of information to share and am looking for owners who are equally committed to assisting others. I'm not looking for everyone who chimes in to be an expert on the 81 but you must be willing to become one. 78-82 owners are also welcome as we have enough similarities to be of assistance to one another.

I've got a few neat projects going on and i'm looking to get some more people involved with them. I also hope to put together a group whose willing to trade, barter and help each other hunt for needed parts.

Email me at platato@yahoo.com if your interested learning more, you will be amazed.

Default Good question!

While I have bought from the NCRS all of the materials on the 81 it is my opinion after going through them that while they are extremely helpful, they are incomplete. Also, they fail to take into consideration the many differences between St. Louis and BG cars as do the service manuals and assembly manuals (show me the page which shows the location of the STL production horns and I'l eat the page).

Next, there is no detailed restoration information that I have found. "No how to's" or "examples of" or "pictures of" which are published for the 81. Theres alot for the 68 to 82 generally but I am interested in specifics. As an example, show how me a section of the NCRS judging guide that details all of the tags, stickers, labels etc. that are located throughout the car and I'l eat those pages.

Also, theres a huge amount of paperwork that GM generated with regard to the 81 yet there is no single source which includes all of this information. I'm working on this.

I am also interested in having some items reproduced and need some help wrapping this up.

I could go on and on and on.

So......To answer your question, I will join NCRS but I am holding off until I have something to offer them in the way of research and improvements in their knowledge of the 1981. It may sound a bit off to some but if I'm going to be a member, I want to be an active member and maybe even a judge. I'm very close to getting there and with the help of a "posse" I'l get there even quicker and take a few more people along for the ride.

I have an 81 4 speed that I just bought as a project. It has a slight bend in the right front frame area. I want to do a frame off resto and would be interested doing it right. I would be interested in hearing your comments and learning more of what you have compiled.

regards

You will get a better response if you post this in C3 general. There are more 81's there.
