72 Stock Rear Spring
I'm going to replace my rear spring, but I'm confused. My 72 is 350/200 but it has a 7 leaf spring. From what I can tell the 7 leaf is heavy duty and came withthe F41 ZR-1 option package. Is it possible that someone would order that package on a 200 hp car? Can someone confirm what other parts came with F41? I don't have any of the documentation on this car.

It's more likely that a previous owner replaced the original 9-leaf spring with a 7-leaf reproduction; ZR1/F41 was a special road-racing package, only available with the LT1 engine, and only 20 were built (with a $1,010.00 option price). Your car was built originally with a standard 9-leaf spring.

John... I think if you went with the LT1 you got the 7 leaf set up.. same as the later years with the L82's... 9 leafs were only used in the base units. no????

Ron, I dunno for sure - you're more familiar with C3's than I am, but there were no suspension options in '72 other than the (20) ZR-1's that included F-41 as part of the package. Gary Beaupre' over on the NCRS Board would know- he's the rear spring "guru"
