Last weekend was a vulgar display of horsepower...
I pulled up to semi trailers, race cars, and pit crews. There were two run groups Friday, Viper Challenge race cars and everyone else. The competitors were running 1:29's in T&T. I didn't stay for the race.
The other group was a mix of Vipers, two vettes, a Ferrarri, and a bunch of Neon SRT-4 race cars. It was open passing, which was a nice change. On the straights my meager 305 hp had me several car lengths back by the braking zones...a humbling experience. Thank goodness passing in corners was allowed or I would never have gotten by them. It was amusing to me that a Corvette was underpowered in comparison.
The Neons were surprisingly quick as well, running in the 1:38 range. That's a fantastic race car for the money.
Sonny Whelan was there with the C5 car he runs in the Speed GT series. He also had a Viper that he was running on Friday.
I ended up blowing a rear tire late Friday so I called it a day. The forecast called for T-storms all weekend and I didn't feel like hassling with remounting my spares so I packed up and went home.
All in all a good day (aside from the blowout, of course). Good group of guys, I'll definately run with them again.
