Default looking for a dragstrip.

Well I think Its time for me to try my hand at drag racing. My vette is really starting to feel fast with its new motor breaking in. I have never been to any strips before and was wondering whats a good place to go on a monday or wednesday? I would like to maximize my time there so no huge lines to go down the strip. I dont care if its a 1/8th or a 1/4 mile track. I am in the wheaton IL, a western suburb of chicago. Thanks guys.

We were thinking of going there with the 02' but I'm not sure it's going to happen time wise with other projects.

well Rick I got to see if its possible to get off of work on sunday on short notice, I would love to attend that event. My question is it $30 per pass on the strip or $30 for all day racing? Also do I need a helmet if I race with the T-tops off? I dont expect to be faster than 13's so any thing i need to do to prepare my car for a safety inspection?

30 dolllars all day. Fill out your tech card, goto the tech line and they will make sure the car is in proper shape for everybody safty. Battery is tight held down, nothing is leaking, all the lug nuts are there, seat belts, and helmet is SNELL approved, and you have a overflow bottle for the radaitor. If you run with the clocks on, and drove the car to the track is the easiest to get through tech. If they ask you what you think you'll run, and its your first time, low ball yourself. say 14s, it will only make things easier on yourself as to certain times they will start looking for more safty on the car that you wont need. It's going to be hot and humid this weekend so your car wont be running 100% so i wouldnt worry to much.

As for the t tops and helmet, there is no way i see you being able to run with the t tops off. You would have to have them on, and locked so they don't fly up mid flight up the track. Also, your windows have to be up, too.

just remember to relax and have fun, that is why you are there. If you have any questions no matter how stupid they may seem just ask one of the track people. They would rather tell you something simple then see a big mistake happen.
