I wonder if they even put in the correct type of oil?
VetteTech81 does very cost effective oil changes if you don't want to do it yourself. He does mine.

I agree... thats why I do all my own work... unless it's something I cannot do like body work...
If you decide not to do it your self I normally charge $55 including mobil 1, declo filter, labor and disposal...

Life's Short. Drive Hard.
How often do you change it? Castrol GTX is not a full synthetic as recommended by GM. Synthetics have lower volatility and dont not boil off or vaporize as quickly as petroleum motor oils. Synthetics lose from 4 percent to 10 percent of their mass in the high-heat conditions of internal combustion engines, whereas petroleum-based oils lose up to 20 percent. You can void your car’s warranty if the manufacturer requires one type of oil and you put in another. For instance, Corvettes require synthetic motor oil only. HERE is some good info.
As for filters, check this out.
I just realized you have a C4 so warranty concerns arent an issue for you. Did GM even require synthetic in the C4?

3. never change oil filter ( unheard of ?? )
4. it a 1954 Corvette and there is no oil filter to change
5. take old oil to jiffy lube and they will get rid of it for you FREE
6. drive less then 1000mls. per year, only change oil 1 time per year

I have an '85, iron block, iron heads. Its recommended to use regular oil, as synthetic would just be a waste of money for me. But yeah I bet you C5 guys all have to use synthetic.

I've already learned not to take the car to the dealer for anything unless I absolutely have to(unless its warrenty work). $25 for a 12 pack of castrol gtx, $4-5 each for a couple of delco or wix filters, and that's 2 cars covered for under $40. Most towns have free oil recycling too, naperville does it at one of the fire stations once a month.
