Default Mackinaw Crossroads!

Yet another rainy day for the event.

Promoters will say 400 cars but I doubt if even 300 brave souls turned out.

Windy, raining and cool!

New location on grass park area not on the pier as in the past.

Seemed to be will organized but the weather is beyond their control.

I was on highway 127 headed North around 7:30 PM Saturday and it rained so hard that folks were pulling off the highway. My wife dragged me to the Soaring Eagle in Mt Pleasant to see the Blues Brothers show instead of my planned Crossroads trip. I'm really glad she did now. They actually had Jim Belushi and Dan Akroyd singing and dancing instead of the imposters that I expected. GREAT SHOW!
By the way, the casino is holding a raffle for charity on an '07 triple black Corvette Convertible with a $62,xxx sticker. Drawing is Aug 30. Only $100 with a limit of 2,500 tickets being sold.

Chamber said about 240 cars registered.. Was miserable weather wise Thurs. until we left this A.M.(Sun). They also said the Show will be there again next year. After that , they have permission to use a newly built Pier.

It was our first time at this event. Having the show cars park in the weeds does not seem like a good idea to me. We drove the 96 to the show so keeping it "car show clean" for this event was not really going to happen for me. But the trailered cars, There were some that never came out of the trailers. I cant blame those guys. I would not want to drive through wet grass, sand and mud to get my show car parked.

One fella was saying that they are trying to make a deal to have the cars parked in the big lot to the south of the downtown area next year. That would be so much better.

All in all even with the weather I had a good time. Mackinac Island is a great destination spot. The cruise over the bridge was organized well. Just too bad we couldnt see anything through the overcast sky and the fog.

Way late, found this post so thought I'd say hi. It was a bummer about the rain, but I took second in my class(74-77 stock) so I was happy. I was bummed about the cruise across the bridge, there didn't seem to be any organization on which exit you should turn off of to get back over again to wave at the vette's still coming over. It was our first time up there, will go back again next year.
