Mohawk Car Lifts
Have been looking at lifts for some time, on and off. The Mohawk lift A-7 2-post lift has my attention. Also looking at the USL-6000 sissors lift. Anybody out there have any experience with the Mohawk brand lifts? I know there are a heap of lifts out there in all shapes & sizes. I do have some limitations such as ceiling height (114") so that limits me somewhat. Thanks for any input.

Randy,
I think scisor lifts are to tall for a vette to clear and not good for all that much. A post lift may be difficult to use as well but you can build a step ramp with wood. I have a post style lift at the Elk Grove shop and have to ramp up my car to lift it. A 10 ft ceiling is very short for under car work but if you are doing brake work, lower detailing this may not be so bad. There are also those chairs you car roll around on for doing low lifted work. If I can help any more let me know, the cell is on. TommyN

The scissor lifts are too high but you can make ramps on each side out of 2x8's.. I saw some recent pics a forum member posted with his mis rise (scissor) lift.. each style lift has it's advantages ect.. the mid rise is portable, you can roll it around the shop or load it on a trailer.. ect..
but for over all service work the 2 post is a good choice... it must be bolted to the floor as you know, thats pretty much the biggest issue for a home user....
BTW there was a lift group purchase going on somewhere on the forum..

Thanks guys, I know there are all sorts of issues to consider. The ceiling height is not the best, but that's one thing I can't change. I like the 2-post lift because it leaves the floor open in the center to get all the other crap out of the garage, ie lawnmower, mustang etc.(ha ha). The sissors lifts sound good from the mobility standpoint but I'm not sold on them. This is probably more for my ute than for me. He does three times more mechanical work than I do. Really, do I need a lift to wax the car? NO, but do I want one?
Hey Frank, can't say I gave that much consideration, BUT, if you promise to help I might give it some thought. I WILL provide the beer!!!!!
I think were both getting to old for anything that requires much in the way of physical labor!!!!!!!

Thanks Johnny, I'm trying a few different ones until I get a promotion from Capo in the Crew.
Randy, when is your ute getting a vette or is he a Ford guy?

I hate to say this, but he is a ricer!!!!!!!!! But, he could be swayed to the dark side!!!!!!!!!!!! Do ya know the old saying, not having a pot to **** in? Right about now, he is happy (ya right) just having a car that gets him back and forth to work without falling apart. Actually, he has been talking to his mother about putting me in a retirement home early so he can get the Vette!! I'm going to have to watch my back.

there are no
in this Family
JV you will have to be extra careful here, with all the FRANKS in the family, this could be a move to take over. It could be hard to tell which Frank is trying to WACK ya. And by the way, Valentines day is around the corner. Don't go into any warehouses there Don Johnny!!!!!!!!!!
I have the Mohawk A7 in my garage (with a 119" ceiling") and have been quite happy with it. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/rworkman...60762350884660
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it. (Ease of use, how much I paid, difficulty to install, etc...)
Also, it isn't bad at all to work under a 'Vette w/ a 10' ceiling. I can stand up all the way w/o any problem. When I'm working on my pickup, I have to stoop a little, but it's still no big deal.
