At least the timing was good for this, I've been in NY since Wednesday. I was too drunk at my buddy's party on Long Island yesterday to even realize the forum was down.
I'm very curious to see if it will work for me when I get back home from VIR. It wasn't working when I left - I've only been able to connect from hotels the last 2+ days.
I don't think so in this case, as I am using the same laptop successfully here in the hotel that would not work in Chicago. So it may just be a timing thing - they got it fixed between when I left and when I got to the first hotel.
But if it doesn't work when I get home, you can bet that's the first thing I'll try.

How is it some people had problems and others did not? I use Western Burbs Comcast, I'm sure lots of people do and never had a connection problem.

I think it has/had to do with how your traffic was routed to the Forum servers, which in turn has to do with where your ISP connects to the backbone. I used GoToMyPC.com to remote control a computer in St Louis (with Charter as its ISP) and could not get to the Forum from there, either.
