Need some more help here guys. I need an A4 for my wife's Vette ASAP. So--- I bought one from a forum member, but after waiting about 2 weeks, I get a message that its expected to arrive here on/or about 8/31!!!! That's an entire month without a trans!!!
1. Do I tell the guy to keep it and refund me cause a local member is selling me one?
2. Who's got a line on one? Budget is an issue, and this is a completely STOCK car (and will remain so, in case you missed it this is the wife's car)
Not sure if it's rebuildable or not. The car has 160K on her, so I figured it was time for a new one. Either way, I'm running out of time since I'll be tied up with a work project all of September into mid-October. What's a rebuild cost for a 4L60E?

Around here I was quoted $1200 for full rebuild with one year warrenty, R&R, and a new converter. $200 off if I pull the trans and bring it in. This was on a 4L60 and my C4, your car might be slightly different. It would have taken about four days. I ended up working on the trans myself and it has been OK so far. It had some easy valve body issues to fix.

I think it will depend on what all it needs, and who does the work, but 1200-1800 wouldn't surprise me. I don't know what a good used one goes for these day though - and what kind of warranty - if any - you will get on a used one. Try Rodney at RPM for a quote on rebuilding.
