We had a 90 from 1999 through 2004. Sold it AFTER we bought a new 04 'vert only because we had 4 Vettes and never drove it anymore. When the garage is big enought we will add another C4 to our collection.
I have had mine for a year and do not plan on parting with it. I would like to race it next year and let the kids learn to drive with it, but that will be another twelve years though for the first kid.
I have had some interesting problems with mine, like a dash that turned into a casino slot machine with a big winner that fixed itself in a week. Wish I had an onboard camera when that happened!! I am glad I started with my 84'. My next acqusition would be a 1979 vette and then a new Z06, but I would never think of selling my car to get the others.
my first was a 1993 RUBY coupe. i bought it in 2002 with 155,000 miles on the clock. i drove it as often as possible. i loved how you fit comfortably in the cockpit in the race ready position. it handled beautifully on the track and on country roads. i thought i was gonna keep it forever but a friend of mine gave me a hell of a deal on my current 1999 coupe and i got back what i paid for it after 3.5 years and nearly 40,000 miles of use.
I've had mine for 4 years now, and I do not think I will ever sell it. I didn't buy it because it was more affordable, but because I have always loved the body style, and still prefer it over the C5 and C6. The cockpit feeling of the interior, the clamshell hood, and the 180 degree headlights are all features that I would miss. Plus, with the right mods, I have been able to keep it pretty much at the perfomance level of a new one. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't get an additional Vette, but I think I would go late-C1 or C2, and I wouldn't sell the C4 to get it.
I owned an 84 since new for 24 years. I really enjoyed driving it. Then I decided to try something else. So I kept looking at C5 Zs. I had the chance to drive a ZR-1 and a C5 Z back to back.
I bought the 92 ZR-1. It sits in my garage with the clamshell hood open.
WOW!
I purchased a new 89 coupe and had it for 5 years, then a 94 coupe then later a new 96 collector Ed. LT4. I enjoyed all my C4s, still like the body style. I wish I could have kept the 96 Col. ED., but it had to go when I got my first C5(99 coupe).
I had a 89 that I bought on July 30th 1993 and sold in Feb 2004. I sold it to buy a 1998. I loved the car, but it did have MANY mechanical problem go wrong with it and dont regret getting the problem free C5. I replaced the cats, diff leak, fuel injecters, a/c, water pump, IAC, intake gasket, antenna, alternater, Bose speakers, and more that I cant remember. So I guess I loved the car, not all the items that drained my wallet. My C5 has been trouble free, so far from 04 to present. Even so, one day I would like to have another one as a second Corvette.
I had a '95 C4 around 2001... didn't last too long, traded it in for a ....
dun dun dun...
'95 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo
never should have sold the supra
I think the C4 is a great car, but I really do think that each generation since then has been a great improvement in just about every aspect of the car.
