Just a reminder to all Corvette owners who have garage doors with the spring on each side. Run a 3/16 to 1/4 cable thru the spring and clamp on both ends. If the spring breaks as mine did last evening with the door closed, that spring can go flying and could break a window in your vette or car. About five years ago I did this and now I'm glad I did

Not to mention seriously injure you if you happen to be in close proximity.
Where did you pick up the cable from? and what kind of clamps did you use?
I picked up the cable at a local hardware store,Lowes or HomeDepot should have it, the clamps are just cable clamps. You just loop the cable and put the clamp on, they have two 3/8 nuts.
I've got a different design on mine... Springs are across the top with a rod through them. These springs are only good for aprox 12,000 cycles before they break. When my kids were little they'd run that door up and down dozens of times a day sometimes even riding up and down on it. Anyway, when these springs break the rod through the middle keeps them from flying off. $.02
