Comcast Ruin anybody else's computer?
MWUAUAHAHAH! I fixed it! You can't hold me down comcast. All it took was a system restore, and here I was worried that comcast had in fact messed up my computer. Last time I ever take heed of their b.s.

I've always received excellent customer service from the techs at Comcast. When you get the 'call didn't go through' message, that's your phone company, not Comcast.
Sounds like your settings need to be fixed. Things are likely messed up with the new software install. When you get tech support they'll give you a reference number so you can call back and talk to another techie if the first one didn't fix it for you. Hope all turns out well.

While I do sound whiney, I'm just sick of all my local services. I called SBC Ameritech 3 times to cancel services I didnt subscribe to that they were charging me for, and all three times they were on my next bill. Therefore I canceled my phone service and only have a cell phone.
Then Comcast hooked up my cable when I first moved in and I didnt have a television, so I couldnt tell if it worked, only to discover that it wasnt working when I finally got my Tv's. I called and called but couldnt get any help and when I finally did they gave me that "we'll be there between 8 am and 8 pm" bs which I can't deal with because I'm obviously always at work and am still in college. So I told them cancel all my services and the girl said hold on, and magically sent me the signal that got it working, which meant no service call was ever necessary. Then the errantly huge bill, and the cable modem. It's all too much for one high strung man to take. :crazy:

i have road runner and just didn't install their crap software. my cablemodem connection works fine. in fact, with a bit of tweaking, it works even better than advertised. i'm getting 2500/400 speeds when they advertised 2000/384.
you can hack the hardware/software on the modems/devices too.

Perhaps someone could help me understand why I can't load like 75% of the pages I try. Like why in the hell won't ESPN.com load? Or Sportingnews? I can get on here obviously, but it takes about as long as dial up. And other forums like Stangnet take 4 minutes(i timed it) for any of the pages to load.
I can't get any links to work either. Most hyperlinks just load forever and end up being a 404. I can't utilize the search features of Yahoo, and I can't even get excite to load.
It's really pissing me off because not only do I need the net for b.s , but I need it for work and school. :mad

are you runnign any firewall, ids, or antivirus software. i had a similar problem when using PC-cillin. had to disable the Web Security functionality. their crappy software has serious issues with corruptable internal proxy caches.

Ya, don't use their crappy software - it just takes up space and memory on the computer. My cable modem works fine without all the Comcast clutter.
