I'm not sure what you mean by "what software was installed"?

One could tell what changes may have been done by comparing to a stock tune file, but unless there's a custom operating system installed, no one could tell what tool was used to previously make the changes, nor does it matter.

Tuning software allows you the ability to connect to the PCM, download the tune file, modify it, and re-upload the file to the PCM. You don't ever install software in it.

Think of the tune file like a picture file on your computer. You can download it, make changes to it, and upload it...but you'd be hard pressed to tell what camera took the picture, or what program you used to modify the picture.

I could connect to your car, download your current tune, and tell you what changes from stock have been done. (for free).

As for tuning, although I putz with my car often, I would not describe myself as a proficient tuner to the point I would I would work on anyone else's car. (that's precisely why I'm putzing with my car's tune often).

Out of curiosity, what's been done to your car (mechanically), and what problems are you having with it?

Well, its always had the problem of the black specs EVERYWHERE on the back of the car, it has FLP long tubes and x-pipe, B&B bullets. Car has cats. Before i bought it, it used to be supercharged, the guy took it off right before he sold it to me. Still has some green top ford injectors, which if im not mistaken i remember to be 42 lb? I just rebuilt the tranny over the winter, so now i dont look like an idiot always grinding 2nd, but the car still looks nasty with the specs, which ive noticed are only really bad around town. I took the car on a 3400 mile road trip to yellowstone NP last spring and the specs when i got back were about as bad as a day of driving around town and on the highway around here. Fuel economy seems to be good, almost 30mpg on the highway, and according to the dash, averages 19mpg when i drive to work and back. Also on decel, it pops like CRAZY, its fine to downshift and sounds good until it reaches about 1900 rpm and then it starts popping. So to drive through a parking lot slowly in 2nd gear or so, it kinda sounds like crap, I just assumed it was from running too rich.
