Tuning question
"Do you know of any really good tuners for Corvettes in the area. I am thinking of maybe adding some "pieces" and would really like to talk to someone who actually knows what the various things do, how much it costs to put them on, how to combine them for a good result, etc. I have heard about the throttle block that VMax redoes. It's $150 and apparently gives great results for a reworked stock throttle block. I am interested in things like K&N air filters and maybe the intake, and possibly a partial, or even full exhaust. Not one that is loud, but a touch of sound wouldn't be bad (I think).
Anyway, any ideas you might have would be appreciated. I don't even seem to be able to find any good evaluations of stuff like exhausts, etc."
Thanks,
WR
Remember an engine is basically an air pump. Opening up the intake and exhaust; getting a good "tune" will improve performance as well as fuel economy. Is the car an automatic or 6 speed?
The car is an '07 Silver convertible with an auto trans. I have had it about a year, and aside from the fact that early on the dealer replaced the trans because of leaking, it has run fine. It continues to have little things that are irritating, like the fact that the rear deck doesn't release easily when you hit the switch; sometimes yes, sometimes you have to kind of pull on the corner while punching the fob switch. Had some trouble with the right rear wheel leaking air, or not reporting it, or something. Dealer replaced some parts there and now it seems to be doing well.
I am also considering getting nitrogen for the tires, but the dealer doesn't carry it, and I'm not sure where to get them filled and how one keeps them nitrogen filled. When I raced lay-downs we had a little nitrogen tank, but I don't have that anymore, and I don't know what policy is about filling.
