Woodward

Looking for some info from the locals.
Recomendations on what to do where to stay what to see?
The Woodward Dream Cruise is a one day event, that is now into its sixteenth year. However, people start cruising on the boulevard almost two weeks prior to the actual event.
If you are going to be in town more than one day there will be plenty to see and do, but without knowing your interest, it's hard to say.
I would start with checking the local Corvette Clubs in Michigan. My club usually has a spot on Woodward near Thirteen Mile Rd. We will have 35-40 of our club members parked there on Friday and Saturday.
Other Metro Detroit Corvette Clubs will have activities on Woodward as well. Check out the thread in the National Section titled "Corvettes on Woodward" by Larry.
Without sounding like a visitor's bureau, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, museums, GM Headquarters, Tech Center just in Metro Detroit. The Wixom Performance Build Center, where they build the engine for the Z06, ZR1 and Grand Sport is an hour away, etc.
Just for starters. You can always take in a Tigers game while you're here.
Welcome to the Motor City!

Welcome to Detroit! Lots to see and do. If you can be in town Weds. the 18th, Corvettes on Woodward is a must do. Had dinner with Larry C. last week and his goal is 400+ Vettes this year. He'll probably get 500, he has 200 already.
If you have family with you suggest a day at Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum. Great bang for the buck and a complete experience.
The actual cruise on Saturday will see upward of a million spectators lining Woodward and more cars than you can count.
Any of the northern/western suburbs will have quality hotels for lodging and one thing we have is great restaurants everyplace. Just Google what you are looking for.
Hope to see/meet you in August.

Also Flint Michigan has started "Back to the Bricks" which is an extension (30 miles) north starting late in the week and also on Saturday.

We cruise woodward almost every weekend. If you can i suggest you come for at least a couple days prior to the actual cruise, lots of cruising and things to see all week long. i have more fun the week before the dream cruise. I would be happy to meet up with you guys and show you around.
thanks Jim
