Default Corvette Mechanic

Hi -

New on the forums, so please forgive and correct me if I display poor etiquette.

Just moved to the Des Plaines, Illinois area and looking for a good mechanic locally, for my 1975 Stingray. My car does not need any major work right now, but I'd like to find someone who knows classic Vettes in the area.

I am trying to avoid big shops (especially Corvette only shops) because I find them over priced and not terribly interested in customer service.

Ideally would like a mechanic that is willing to both work on the car and share knowledge about this car, my first Corvette.

Suggestions welcome!

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but in case others read this post. I only let Kevin from Libertyville Chevrolet Performance Shop work on my Z06. He works on both Vettes and other Chev classics (Camaros, etc). It's a separate shop in the Libertyville Chev Dealership. They have an open house coming up on May 14th if you're interested in checking the place out. I think there is a post here about that even somewhere.

Sure - Send me a pm with your telephone number and email. I will be glad to share them with you. Plus, I will also give you the names and numbers to others with the same experience. Just so you know, I used to trust that mechanic. Never again
