Default VIRUS - rec'd so far from AFVETTE, CFIVE1998, TOMC5

Guys, I think it's time to update your antivirus software! :nono:

Glad Norton caught it right away on my computer before it infected anything. Practice safe computing - wrap that rascal! :smash: :yesnod:

Lambinator.
Not sure where it came from, possibly a mutual connection. My system has a high level of protection on both incoming and outgoing emails as well as regular full system scans. You might want to check with your ISP to see if they can trace it back.

I must have received 100 virus emails today. It is probably because my address is in a lot of people's address books from sending me emails about products, purchases, etc. Damn Microsoft email programs!! :boxing

Guys:
I am on a shotgun sports forum as well, which is suddenly having the same problem. Known posters on the forum are suddenly "Sending" E-mail laiden viruses like crazy. Obviously this is not the case. We think someone is targeting specific people on forums, but watch your virus software and don't open attachments.

Absolutely keep your virus definitions updated. And frankly, I wouldn't recommend opening up ANY attachments received via email until June or July unless you're 100% sure of their integrity. The Chinese threat it mentions is VERY real... not a hoax. Here's a section from our company's newsletter that went out to our clients yesterday. You may want to visit a link or two in it:

-----------------------

The U.S. Government has warned us of cyberterrorism and hacking threats
being higher than normal for the month of May by a group from China. The
NIPC has also issued a warning for the Klez.h worm (April 26th) here: http://www.nipc.gov/warnings/advisories/2002/02-002.htm and they are
warning of "physical" attacks against banks here: http://www.fbi.gov/pressrel/pressrel02/banks041802.htm

Additionally, since we have many clients who use Microsoft's IIS, it's our
duty to let you know yet another warning issued April 11 on its
vulnerabilities can be found here: http://www.nipc.gov/warnings/advisories/2002/02-002.htm

---------------------------------
To get on the notify list so that you stay tuned in to these types of nasties and impending electronic threats, visit http://www.countersec.com . Your information, email address, etc is never released to anyone (because the CEO hates spam and other forms of unsolicted email).

:yesnod: Norton updates automatially, but I updated manually yesterday just to get the 4/29/02 protection files after getting hit 4 times in one day. :cuss

I've never been hit with a virus before and now I've got two different ones on my hardrive at home. :mad I received both of them in the last day or so and I haven't opened any e-mail attachments! I thought you had to open an attachment or something for it to get onto your hardrive? Can someone tell me how this works?

Mike :mad
