Finally got rid of the godawful stock Grand Sport pads on my car for a set of one piece Carbotech Bobcat pads. The install was very easy, and so far I like the way they stop. The initial grab is much better than the stockers and after a good 50 mile or more drive there is not a hint of dust on the wheels. The only bad thing... they WHINE HORRIBLY when making a very slow and easy stop. I bedded them in according to the instructions, but hope after a good triple digit slow down they will really bed in and get quieter. Anyone else running these pads? For as expensive as they are I really hope the quiet down.

What rotors are you using, I assume stock? how did you clean them up? how many miles on rotor? did you use anti squeal lube on backing plates? Please tell me your bed in you did.
I've run Carbotech for years on multiple cars and like them a lot.
It is best to start with a fresh or clean rotor if switching from another pad.
In my experience with used rotors, driving them for a few hundred miles of "limo driving" without heavy braking will clean them fairly well. Once the surface is shiny, you can re-bed them.
As you know, I've got them too. I haven't had any trouble with squeal or whine, but I did do several medium brake downs (60-10) then a couple of 100-10's, and I have the stock rotors - Kevin did the install.
Hope it gets resolved as I think they're great pads.

Adam,
Stock GS rotors. I bought them as take offs from a car that supposedly had 70 miles on it before they were removed. I cleaned them with brake clean and wiped down afterwards with a clean rag. Bed in was per your instructions and included about 2 miles of slow driving to warm up pads followed by three 60 to 20 quick stops to bed in. The pads feel great, but they seem very "grabby" when driving normally or slowly and easily coming to a stop. Would a higher speed quick stop help them bed in? The squeal is really loud, but only when stopping with very easy pedal effort.

It's probably the old compound still on the rotors, no telling how long that could take. Additional bedding may not really help, but driving it a little harder will help get the transfer layer done more quickly.
I'm using those pads as well, and initially had a little bit of a squeal particularly at low speed/light brake pressure. Eventually it went away, I suspect after I got enough of the new pad material down on the rotors (which had material from other pads on them already). No noise at all from the brakes now.

Thanks! I think they will be fine. I really haven't put a bunch of miles on them yet, and haven't hit them really hard yet either.
