CHICAGO (CBS) — The Cook County Board is considering enacting new fines for a variety of offenses from public urination to illegal refrigerator dumping. The proposal would also make some offenses involving drug paraphernalia punishable by a fine rather than criminal charges.

Grayslake's police chief was arrested last week following a crash in Wisconsin for drinking under the influence, according to reports.

He would make more money if he charged $250 a ticket to allow people to throw feces on him. I would buy the first 5 tickets.

I remember this scumbag as being one of the co-sponsors of an anti-gun bill a few years ago, along with fellow assbag Larry Suffredin.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports, ***, 21, is accused of stealing $17,000 in merchandise from a Radio Shack in the 2300 block of West 95th Street, in the Beverly neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reported.

But prosecutors say it was that same equipment that was ***’s undoing. Some of the equipment had GPS technology, and police used it to find Jefferson in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue, several miles north in the Albany Park neighborhood, the Tribune reported.

*** was found just two hours after he allegedly terrorized people at the Radio Shack with a gun and bound his victim’s hands before taking the equipment, the Tribune.

A West Humboldt Park man needed six hours of surgery after his brother-in-law beat with him with a weed wacker, prosecutors said.

***, who lived in the basement apartment of the same building as ***, suffered broken ribs and brain injuries when *** and another man attacked him during a family argument. After *** knocked *** to the floor with the weed wacker, the second man, who has not been named, smashed a 40 ounce bottle over ***’s head.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Fifty-two people have been granted clemency by Gov. Pat Quinn for crimes that date back decades.

Quinn announced Friday that he has expunged the records of these offenders. In most cases, he's also granting full pardons.

The Democratic governor also rejected 136 clemency requests.

Quinn is whittling away at a backlog of 2,500 requests that piled up under former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Now in prison himself, Blagojevich rarely took any action on clemency.

Most of the people whose requests were granted Friday had committed relatively minor offenses.

Twenty-five involved theft. Sixteen involved drugs. Eight offenses included some kind of violence, such as misdemeanor battery.

Hmmm?

April 12, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- There's a mystery in the sky after people throughout the Chicago area reported seeing a streaking fireball overhead at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A meteor and meteorite sighting blog called Lunar Meteorite Hunters says more than 100 people from Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa reported the light show.

Descriptions ranged from "a blue-green fireball" to a "yellow fireball with a red center."

LITCHFIELD, Conn. — Authorities in northwestern Connecticut say they didn't find anything after a state trooper and another person reported a large object falling out of the sky in Litchfield.

The Republican-American of Waterbury reports that a person driving in Litchfield at about 2 a.m. Tuesday reported that a green, glowing object the size of a whale fell from the sky and crashed into Bantam Lake. Officials say that at about the same time, a state trooper 10 miles away in Warren called dispatchers to report that something fell out of the sky and landed near Bantam or Morris.

Morris firefighters made several passes up and down the lake in a boat looking for a possible plane crash, but didn't find any debris.

Authorities called off the search, leaving the mystery unsolved.

A city council committee today passed a controversial proposal to install speed enforcement cameras near schools and parks – despite incomplete information on changes to the proposal, especially how the city might use speeding ticket revenue.
