Anyone ever taken their vette up to Duluth? Is the Northshore drive really as beautiful as people say? Is it worth driving up for the scenic drives and attractions?   :seeya
No I haven't. But I did propose a run to Duluth for lunch, hang out for a while in a park somewhere, then cruise back. Unfortunately, C5North is the only one that responded!

:yesnod: Especially in the fall. (if you're into leaves)
Duluth is very picturesque and they've done a great deal to make the town an attractive leisure destination. The pavement is generally atrocious, keep that in mind. During Grandma's Marathon and the John Beargrease race the place is a nuthouse, but insofar as the latter is a dogsled race and Duluth is mostly vertical, the Vette probably wouldn't be wise. I try to get there a couple times a year and highly recommend it.
I've been up there, just not with the Vette (didn't own it several years ago when I was last up there). If you're into the great outdoors, there is a lot to see along the shore. I don't remember coming across a lot of bad roads, but I stayed mainly on the main roads 61/Scenic 61 (I think that's right). If you start going off the main roads, you will find nasty bumpy and/or dirt roads.
Drove my Vette through Duluth last Monday. Went all the way to UP Michigan (Marquette) for a business trip. Classic Corvettes has a run up there and on to Michigan every fall. I think it's called Northern Fall Color Run. I wouldn't mind taking a trip all the way around Lake Superior. :)

Yeah Northshore drive is paved and twisty, perfect for the Corvette. I'll have to make sure not to get off of it though! Can't wait to take a drive up there.
My wife and I, plus another Vette couple drove the complete Superior loop last fall - shortly after 9/11. It took us 3 days and about 1400 miles (not sure on the miles - I didn't check - that's what I was told by the other Vette driver). The route was very scenic and fun to drive. The only problem I had was when Canadian customs was searching my car - they scratched the top of rear bumper removing our suitcases from the trunk. We will probably do it again in a few years, but add an extra day or two for some sight-seeing.

Re: Duluth, MN.... anyone? (FlyboyZR1)
Yep, I've been up there in the Vette a couple times. It is great. I can't believe no one else wanted to take Stingray1967 up on his offer to organize a trip up there.

I live in Esko about 8 miles west of the top of the Duluth hill on I-35. I would recommend the trip, but don't try going up and down the residential hills. You will feel it on your spoiler. It's a bit like Stillwater in that way.
The North Shore drive is very worthwhile.
I lost my vette on Monday i8n a body shop fire, or I would be looking for places to travel, too.\

In addition to Northshore drive, what about skyline drive? Will that be ok for the spoiler?

I live in Duluth and have a 65 Roadster. The drive up the North shore is wonderful. Especially now with the fall colors]. Several good restaurants. The Rustic Inn is my favorite. Several great side trips. Gooseberry falls, split rock lighthouse are worth seeing. You won't be sorry.Tom B
