Default Bill Stasek Chevrolet, Crooks?

Hey fellas, I bought my 2006 Z06 at Stasek on 6/11 of this year. I purchased the tire and wheel warranty, but later decided it wasn't worth it, so I called to have it cancelled. After a couple of weeks of calling and leaving messages that weren't returned, I finally drove to the dealership on 7/9, and filled out the cancelation form. Today, I called the warranty company, and guess what, they never received the cancellation. Also, upon reviewing my sales contract closer, I was charged 7.25% state tax for the sale, plus 1% Cook county residence tax. I live in Mchenry county where the sales tax rate is 7%. Are these guys crooks or am I missing something? I already am going about canceling the warranty, but is there anything I can do about the tax?

Does that mean they can do no wrong around here?

I see zero issue this should get locked?? He didn't call them crooks as there is a question mark behind the word. Also he stated the facts of what happened diplomatically and in no way made negative comments about the vendor.

I think it's ridiculous when a business plays these types of games by not responding to phone/email and then ups the ante by not sending in the forms that he filled out while in person.

Yeah, I'm not bashing them, just seems odd for this kind of thing at a high volume Corvette dealer. I was also told it was inspected and all recalls were taken care of. I had to bring it in after owning it a couple of weeks because the service active handling warning was coming on, and sure enough it was a recall issue. I traded in my last Corvette for this car, and they said the little bit of curb rash on one of my wheels would have to be replaced for them to sell, so it was figured into how much they offered on trade in, and low and behold, my new car has some damage to the wheels. It is a great car and I got an overall good deal on it, but some of these things do not seem right.

Haha, I know what you meant, it was more of a rhetorical question.

Dear Robert –

I assure you we try to handle our business with integrity and pride but occasionally a weak link in the chain can cause an issue to arise. The sales tax error is an honest mistake that was discovered in our monthly tax balance audit. As for the warranty I apologize it wasn’t handled sooner. The employee responsible for this is no longer with the company. After her exit it was discovered that some items like your warranty cancellation were not handled in a timely fashion or at all. We’ll be in touch and thank you for calling this to our attention. If you need any other assistance please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Regards –

As the Mods will probably see this matter now closed, IBTL.

Sounds like the buyer wasn't refunded yet. Error was caught in the monthly audit (car was purchased in June) and it's August.

Hope it all works out.

I've purchased a number of cars from Stasek (just bought a 2015 Impala) and have always been treated extremely well. I've found all their staff to be very professional and honest. I'm sure it's an oversight on someone's part and Brent will help you get things straightened out.
