2017 Corvettes on Woodward SE Michigan
Last year the main meet & greet for Corvettes on Woodward moved to the M1 Concourse in Pontiac. I will have a lot more room here. We made an American flag with 150 Red, Whit & Blue Corvettes. There was a seven generations display. We collected cash and food donations for two food pantries. All in all it went pretty good.
This year there will be a new 650 car parking lot next to the big tent. People have said the way I get Corvettes to park that means room for 1000. That is the goal.
I am looking for Red, White and Blue Corvettes to be in the flag on Wednesday August 16 I will try to get us in place around noon.
Please remember the reason we do Corvettes on Woodward is to support two food pantries. We need your help.
The schedule this year. I will also have some tours at Katech. Space is very limited at Pratt Miller so let me know if you are interested. Also Lingenfelter is limited to 100 Corvettes. I have a new email. MichiganCorvetteEvents@gmail.com Saturday we will be cruiseing Woodward n the morning and Back to the Bricks in Flint in the afternoon

I thought I had your phone number. Here is mine 586-876-6923. Also Cynthia Gregor lives in your area and will be my local leader for the 2019 Caravan. I mentioned she could talk to you and maybe you could help her meet some of the people you know. Are you just planning a short trip or do you need rooms?

Melting Slicks
Reason for the pull out is M1 wanted 80% of the proceeds from the $10 entry fee and 20% was to go to Larry's charities. All of Larry's profits from this event were to go to charities to feed the homeless and hungry in Oakland County and more particularly shelters in Pontiac. Bad publicity move for sure for the folks at the M1 Concouse who believe their profits collected at the gate are more important that giving back to the community in which you live! SHAME!

I went last year and planned on it this year.
Last year, the M1 track still had a lot of garages to sell and maybe if you draw 800 or so Corvettes to see it, word would get around much quicker of what was being built there. Free advertising for them, and I sure was impressed with what I saw so told countless people about it.
With all the garages pretty much sold out now, they probably don't want us in the way.
Thanks for your efforts Larry, and maybe I'll see you at the Heritage Center. Perhaps by then there may be an alternate gathering spot for a few of us.

Any chance of getting the parking lot @ the Old Kinglsey Inn ?
Sorry, I don't recall the new name.
There was a nice gathering there for years and then at the end, a police blockade to allow a gaggle of vettes onto Woodward at the same time - awesome !

M1 has an evening event, which I think shockingly is only $10 ($5 for spectators). Probably this event being at 6 pm had more to do with their decision than anything else.

No where else really on Woodward to gather, the Northfield Shopping center on 13 Mile was popular (Chrysler had its display there for many years) but that too is under construction. Beaumont is expanding the hospital and putting in a new much smaller shopping center.
The best place to park is probably the church its self (St. John's). Which is why that's where the event got moved.
