I just want to see what kind of response there is to this thread. It really doesn't matter where someone is from, the important thing is if they are interested in participating. If this gets going i'm assuming there will be racers from IL/WIS/IN.

 

I'd bring the C4 and the C5 for fun. Niether has any mods under the hood.

First I would like to say Thank you Arnie for starting this thread.

Second Don, (ZR_Don), has done a spectacular job of getting people to particiapate in the Corvette only events at Byron and we can ony build on this.

I rarely come to this section of the forum so let me introduce myself.
Edgar Perez is the name and the forum name REDGAR is my first name with an R in for front for my Troch Red C5. REDGAR. I am on my second corvette starting with a Polo Green C4. I have learned a lot from guys at the drag strip. The same guys that started the Corvette Challenge. We have had Corvette only racing at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ now for 4 years.

It started as the brian child of one guy, Brian Miller, (onefast99) just like what Don has done at Byron. It has grown to the point where we have hand as many as 82 Corvettes make first round at one of our event and we have averaged 73 over our first 8 events this year. It has also spawned series' in California and Florida which are active this year and Michigan which should be starting the beginning of next season.

We would love nothing more than to see Illinois join the family of Corvette Challenges but it does take a lot of work. Volunteer work which Don is already doing and Arnie has just offered to get involved in.

Our coordinator of these events is John Mackey, (MackeyRed96). John and I will be talking with Arnie and Don to kick around the possibilities of making this happen, provided there is support from you, the racers.

Nice response so far, I've already talked to a potential sponsor and have a few more in mind. Keep posting if you're interested! There's a lot of details to work out, but I'll keep you guys updated.
