My dream come true!
I just got this e-mail. I'm road racing in Florida!!!!! :steering:
Hello Guys,
I spoke with Don from Gainesville Raceway today concerning time on the road course. He will grant us 2 hours of track time for up to 6 cars for a total
cost of $500.
It may be a little more if we aren't covered by Corvette Forum
insurance, but I will check with Phil to see if the policy can cover us.
This will not be instructed driving, so we may want some of our more
experienced brethren to ride along and critique. Alternatively, just using a
stopwatch for lap times can help determine the best line.
Rollbars are not required for convertibles. Helmets are recommended, though
they won't allow very high speeds for street legal cars. Speed will be
influenced by track layout and the distance to the next car.
There will not be flagmen, but there has to be an ambulance crew onsite in case of
problems. Because of the need for the EMT's, they ask for a deposit of $250
upfront. I will cover the deposit pending the response from all who are
interested. It looks like only 3 or 4 cars are solid. This means a cost of
$125 - $167 each. If we get 6 cars, the price drops to $83 each, as long as
CF covers our insurance.
You can make arrangements to pay me or Gainesville
at the track.
Two hours is plenty of time to test our cars and improve technique. We
should be done by noon or thereabouts, which gives us an hour until the
dragracing starts (on the same grounds.)
You may respond to this thread or email me to verify your intent to
participate.
Gentlemen, start your engines.
