OK, suggestion # 1:
I would entertain meeting fellow CF members Quick Silver Z, Gixxerman, Mopar Jimmy and any others at some Saturday/Sunday Car Show in their area sometime this summer. That's four, its a start.

I would very much like to meet as many members as possible including you and the lady from that state up north.

This can be done. Last October I attended a gtg limited to just midyear owners and 36 C2's showed up, most of the owners members of this forum. Just need someone in the area that can pick a viable venue, a date and with a few commitments I am willing to make the drive from Columbus, Ohio. Hopefully others will too.

I'm so glad I was here with my Vette during the National Corvette Forum Cruise In in BG in the 2000's. That was amazing. Hope you can pull it off. @Mike Mercury has had get togethers in the Dayton area in the past. Sounds like a great idea and hope you can get something put together.

Thanks and thanks to all who posted, it was crickets for awhile and perhaps still. But no harm in asking.
Not looking for a huge turnout, I just thought having a gtg outside the Chicago area could draw some members perhaps even from several States. We have a CF member gtg here in Columbus every year and I thought I would expand on the idea.

Someone on this forum has a gtg like every month, from this forum. I don’t think he is in IL. His garage looks bad *** from pictures with a lift, etc…. They detail, wash, clay cars, eat food, hang out, and has a line of corvettes parked down the street. Now that would be fun having a gtg like that every month.

Are you up for a 400+ mile trip one way?
Will you be driving your C8 or Midyear?
2022 I hosted a cool car gathering at my home that included 10 Chicagoland forum members out of about 40+ people and 25 cars. Last year life was crazy and we could not fit it in.
This year we have penciled it in for 7/20/24.
I am in SE Wisconsin minutes from Lake Geneva, a large resort area.
This is 50 miles from City of Chicago.
There are plenty of nice / car safe hotels in the area and easy access to many of the cruise nights and car shows in the area if you were extending your trip out a bit.
The weekend before is the Iola Wisconsin swap meet and the BRIC the largest vintage race event in Wisconsin @ Road America.
I am not posting this as an event on the forum, I will leave this buried here.
I’m guessing if you posted in the C1/C2 general forum you were headed this way we could get more interest from some of the locals and extend invites out to them as well.

tommyn,
Thanks for your post.
Lets see how this goes and if there are other suggestions of venues and/or are interested in Lake Geneva.
I wasnt planning on driving over 400 miles but Steve Stone, a member here, lives nearby said he would attend. Where ever we do this I think he would attend. Steve is the original owner of a '63 Corvette and has put on over 625,000 miles traveling the USA and Canada. A very interesting guy and it would be an honor to have him there.

Comments please

Columbus Ohio to Chicagoland is about 375 miles one way.

Quicksilver / Gixxer & Jimmy are all friends. We have all attended events together. I see QS & Gixxer many times thru the season as they attend many events near by. They all would be on the list.

I know Steve, his car and story. I typically see him a few times thru the season. Last year he was in Appleton Wisconsin at a large show 140 miles from home I attended.

Thank you Dennis for the information about this thread. I appreciate being able to part of this event, if it happens. We are open for most of July and can probably attend any gathering that is planned. We are putting events on our calendar for this year. For those who have not seen our ride, I have attached 2 photos of it.

This was on our way to Labrador, Canada in 2008. We were on the road for 3 weeks and rolled 7,100 miles.

The photo below is in Rocky Mountain National Park and is one of my favorite photos

Thanks again Dennis.

Safe travels and good health to all,
Steve Stone (original owner, '63 triple black convertible, 625,000 miles)
