Hopefully I'm not going down the wrong road here but...…. searching around the Forum I see very little mention of anyone belonging to a Corvette Club. I would have though that a lot of the members of this forum would be members of local or national car clubs. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place or doing the right search. I'm going to duck my head now and see what you all have to say. Thanks
I'm looking into joining the club in my area. Waiting to hear from them with more info. I would think that club membership and forum membership would go hand and hand. Forums are a great place to gather info and share experiences with other members, but you can't drive your car to a forum and have dinner and a couple drinks.
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area. Please have a moderator move it, if that's appropriate.
It appears as if opinions are divided on Corvette clubs — much like opinions vary on different wheels. If I were you, I would look in a couple of different places. First, on the Regional Forum, there may be some information about clubs and/or get togethers. Secondly, enter ‘Corvette clubs near me’ in your browser and see what it pops up. Certainly, don’t be hesitant to ask questions; if you don’t know, you don’t know. There may be some Forum members near you who can give you much more specific info.

Not really a topic for the Intros section. I am going to move this to the Great Lakes Regional section where other members can give you comments on Corvette Clubs.
I don't know if I would really be surprised by that. But I bet there are a ton of people who use this forum(as well as others) as a constant source of information, but never become members. I have been a member of a couple of other forums in the past and have really enjoyed the interaction with other members. I've been helped many times and was able to help others, as well with various issues.
Still learning my way around here. Hope to make some friends here too. Already know a 1000 times more about the Corvette world than I did a few weeks ago.
Thanks for the reply

I too came to this forum seeking “new to Corvette” information, that was 17 years ago.
In that time I became a local event coordinator supplying flyers and text of area happenings to the membership, last year alone posting over 800. The events used to be found on car show/cruise night websites, most all of it now comes from (like it or not) Facebook where there is a healthy Wisconsin Corvette/car community. You might consider that as a source.
As Quick Silver has said there is a Facebook group Wisconsin Corvettes. There are a few from the Eagle River area but not likely very active with the group. The page is based out of the Milwaukee area.
You could also try the National Council of Corvette Clubs to find a group closer to you.
Thanks Jeff. I appreciate that. I went on Headwaters web page and left a message, but haven't heard back from anyone yet. Maybe they hibernate in the winter. LOL
I never joined a club because I didn't know which one would have people I liked and when I shopped around when I first got a Corvette in 2008 I wasn't impressed.
Granted I was 27 at the time, single, and probably a little insecure. Now I'm 43, still single, but no longer insecure. I'd join one now if I could find one without the young stereotypical wealthy kids (aka d-bags). As in I'm down to hang out with old married folks being their 35th wheel.
I can't speak for everyone, but I know quite a few around me.. our experiences are about the same... it's a bunch of crap.. meet a nice girl, then you 2 can go on drives together .. most clubs are not what your ideal in your head is.. prepare for disappointment
I’m not one for Clubs rules dues etc. or Corvettes only. Met a lot of great people through the Forum and /or our local events. Look for Cars and Coffees or Cruise nights in your area.
The Cars and Coffees in Metro Detroit are Meh, I go sometimes but only if I know a friend or two. It's hard to meet people when you're an awkward as F engineer. I'm sure sociable people with charisma have an easier time. Plus lots and lots of D-bags here in Metro Detroit. It's almost unbearable sometimes.
When I lived in the Chicago suburbs, there were a ton of great Cruise night/ car shows all over the place. You could probably find one for every night of the week, in the summer and fall. Not so much where I live now. We have have a couple of annual car shows in the area. They are nice and will attend again this summer. We do have a new cruise night in St. Germain that started a couple years ago. Not sure if they will have it again this year. Let's hope so.
