I've done many sections of Route 66, but never the entire way. Be prepared to see a lot of neglect and shambles. Last October in Arizona, we stayed overnight in the Wigwam, saw the still open but barely surviving Jackrabbit place, and Twin Arrows. Twin Arrows was in shambles and cordened off. There are still many sections of the orginal road you can drive, but they can end abruptly and cause you to do a lot of turn arounds and retracing to another road. It's sad. :(
