Do GM employees get discounts on parts?
Employee discounts.... How about crate motors from the GM Performance Parts catalog? ie the ZZ4 or the new forged, roller 383 (not the HT383) that I heard mentioned somewhere recently.
Just wondering if there's 10-20% discount on them too.
Thanks.

Yes, 10% on OEM parts at the local chevy dealer. Not sure about the performance parts stuff....

Yes, but from what I can tell, it's a paperwork nightmare. Much like everything else within GM. :banghead:

The GM discount on Corvettes used to be 20% off MSRP, since 97 15.5%,now they have cut the GM credit card earnings from 5% to 1% :mad. I think I'm going to cut up my GM card. :yesnod:

You can also purchase parts (if you or someone you know works at GM) from SPO (Service Parts Organization).
Also, GM employee prices at SPO are the same as dealer prices.

GM employee pricing (through SPO) usually equates to about 50% (1/2 price) of the dealer list.. I've found this to be true on a ton of parts..
if you buy through SPO you must be a employee or direct family member of an employee.. you also have to pick the parts up at the warehouse, which could be any one of 3 locations in Michigan.. plus pay 6% sales tax.. it's all kind of a hassle given that we know of two dealers who sell for 10% over cost and can ship to you.. being out of state, there's no sales tax, so really for an extra 4%, you don't have to deal with the hassles of GM.. and you don't have to be an employee!
For example, a local dealer (actually ALL the local dealers) recently quoted me $2200-ish for a trans for my '96 suburban.. i bought it for $1350 instead.. a fuel sender unit for the same vehicle was $288 locally.. $160 is what I paid.. same new part..
Jeff Kopp is a good contact, he even uses these boards.. check with him next time you need parts!
