While on the road tour for Bloomington Gold this year, there was an accident in which a C4 somehow lost control and flipped over a couple times. This happened about a minute in front of us and as soon as we saw a car upside down, we immediatly got out and tried to help. Both people in the car were badly hurt. All we could see was the passengers hand and legs. She was asking for help and we really couldnt do anything. A bunch of us tried to get the doors open but they were too damaged to open. Finally the paramedics got there and a chopper was coming in to get them to the hospital. The man inside was only worried about his wife who was having a very hard time breathing. Lets all pray for these folks! If anyone knows any more about them please chime in.
Hey Jim, I was at ZR_Don's house after the road-tour.
Back at Don's house, word was sad from people getting back from the road tour -- people that had seen the accident described it as a Vette leaving the roadway (sliding... skidding), struck a large rock causing a brutal rollover tbat went at least twice around.... then landed on it's top--- which may have been a convertible - because the top was crushed flat and the people were trapped. Again, this is what people have said.
Most thought the occupants had in-fact died. My thoughts are with them.
According to a trauma nurse at Good Sam, the one person she saw from a bad one-car crash involving a Corvette that was air-lifted to her hospital is "fine" (just broken bones). She thinks it happened in/near Elburn. Medics said the car had "30,000" miles on it and "blew apart". No idea if this is the same accident or if the medics statements are true.
Definitely didn't sound good...hope that by some miracle everyone is o.k. Seems crazy that something like that can happen at an event like the Bloomington Gold cruise.... :( :(
