[Columbus, OH] Tech 2
I'm wondering if I can get an access to a Tech 2 in Columbus, OH area other than from the dealers. I would like to change a few settings in BCM in my Z06. Thanks.

Most independant repair shops use simple code readers when trobleshooting.
What changes are you wanting to make?

I would like to change several settings in the BCM (Body Control Module). I know that the tire pressure monitoring system and the wtilight sentinel can be turned on. I would also like to investigate if the flash-to-pass (on) and daytime running light (off) features can be adjusted/reprogrammed from the BCM too.
My search has been a quite frustrating one, one dealer even told me that they were unwilling to change anything in the BCM, afraid of liability and I wasn't even touching the subject of turning off air pump, changing the skip shift point and ignoring the downstream O2 sensors outputs, which all of them involve reprogramming the PCM instead of the BCM. It looks like I'm going to have to drive to Cincinnati to have it "Poppized".

I feel the need to politely point out that while there are some cheap scan tools on the market, many scan tools are capable of doing more than just viewing and erasing trouble codes. Many scan tools can retrieve more in-depth information. Usually, the more expensive the tool, the more you get. In my research, which is narrow at the very best, I have found that to get more advanced and more in-depth information, the cost will usually start at $500-$700. This will get someone a tool that will usually have access to OBD-1 and OBD-2 information. However, I have done very little research on OBD-2 scan tools, so it would be wrong for me to say that a strictly OBD-2 scan tool would not be able to access this extra information because I honestly don't know but I digress. This information includes freeze frame data and operational data that allows you to see many different parameters such as throttle position and engine temperature and so on. I don't feel it would be appropriate to go further in-depth because
I would like to say that I am by no means perfect, and if I am wrong about anything that I wrote in this post (or any post for that matter), I have no problem being corrected so long as the criticism is constructive.
Update:
A portion of my post has been deleted or edited by myself due to the following correction.
I was informed by an unidentified* source that some of the information in this post is incorrect or partially incorrect. I am going to place their corrections here:
"The Tech 2 can be used to on a Z06 activate the tire pressure sensors when you install them. because the way to program them normaly is throught the DIC and and since it's a Z06 you can't do that it doesn't give you the option until you flash the BCM or RFA module and the C5 does not have an ECM it has a PCM."
The unidentified* source went on to tell me that there is a difference, and I admit that I know better than that, but used ECM as a generic term for the Body Control Module (BCM). I profusely apolgize for my misuse of terminology. I would like to thank unidentified source for their objective and constructive criticism and correction of my errors.
*The source wished to remain unidentified at their personal request.
