Hey all...just thought I'd let you all know how my leg is healing. At the beginning of October I ruptured my Achilles tendon and had to have it reconstructed. Well, I had a follow-up appointment with the surgeon yesterday and they took the cast off. Man, my leg and foot didn't even look real...it looked like a skeleton/wooden leg and foot. The Dr. said this was normal from the atrophy of being in a cast.

Yesterday was also the first time I could see the incision from the reconstruction surgery, too. I thought the incision would only be an inch or two, but it ran from my heel up to the bottom of my calf...no wonder my leg's been so sore! I couldn't move my foot or toes yet, but the Dr. said that was normal and that evrything was looking good.

They put a new cast on my leg which I'll have to wear for another 4 weeks..UGH!!! Man, I don't know how much longer I can take getting around on crutches (I guess another 4 weeks). Plus, work is such a "crutches friendly" place at the RenCen.

Anyway, I get to start to put some weight on my leg in another couple of weeks. Then the final cast comes off in mid-December. Then it's on to rehab. The Dr. is still saying up to a year to recover ! Man, this means that I won't be back running, etc. until next October!!!

Hopefully I'll be able to re-learn how to use the clutch in the spring

See ya'll later!

well, it's good to hear that the recovery is coming along. i think you ask the doctor is you can include clutching as part of the rehab.
