When I right click on a picture in internet explorer and choose "Save Picture As", it will only show the file to be a bitmap, even though the properties show it to be a jpeg file. Same option as when the little pop up window comes into view in the picture. If I choose to email the picture, it shows up in the new email as a jpeg. I can select the same picture on another computer and it gives me the jpeg option up front.
I'm using XP and am up to date on updates.
Any helpful suggestions on where to start looking?
Not sure... I'm on XP Pro and it gives .jpg and .bitmap options on some pics, and just .bitmap on others
I'm using XP Pro also. Usually I get only the bitmap option, other times I do get the jpeg. I can click to email the picture, then once the new email window pops up I can then right click that icon in the email and save it as a jpeg. (provided it is a jpeg file).

Weird windows stuff I guess.
Go to tools>internet options> and delete your temporay inmternet files.
When you download or view many many images, xp starts trying to d/l them as unititled.bmp Deleting the temp internet files fixes it.
