Default URL Link naming

Didn't the Forum have a separate pop-up window to name a URL link when you wanted to insert a link in a post and give it a meaningful name?

If you click on the 'Insert Link' icon, the popup allows you to enter the URL string, but IIRC, there was another popup that would let you enter a name for the link.

Right now it looks like you have to manually type in a name within the URL tag in order to get that to work. Did that feature go away in the upgrade?

I checked a couple of other forums that are running vBulletin 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 and that option is not there either.

Here's the trick I have been using....

First, type the word in the edit window that you want to link.

Then HIGHLIGHT that word (link).

THEN click on the url button.

What happens is the word you highlighted becomes the "name" in the link.

Once you get the idea and the hang of it, I think it makes it just a tad easier.

That's one way to do it as is simply adding the link name you want by inserting it before the /URL end tag.

But IIRC, before the last upgrade, you did it all through popup windows. Actually, clicking on a specific icon brought up a window that allowed you to insert the link name you wanted to use and when you entered that string and clicked on OK in that window, the second window opened that had a line for the URL itself.

In this level of the forum software, the first window seems to be gone.

I wonder if that 2-part URL link feature was dropped in favor of the "Spoiler" popup??

The spoiler was added not too long ago and in the previous version.

I did notice the double popup window was gone from the url button as you stated. I used the workaround I previously mentioned.

This software is highly customizable. vBulletin must have just changed the way that button worked.
