Default Pixel hell!

OK, let me flat out admit from the get-go that I am clueless when it comes to all of the sh*t that you can do with digital photos with diff programs/software, etc.
I can use a dig camera well, take great pics, download them, and resize for emailing etc.- but that's about the extent of my ability.
So, my question- Why is it that when I upload onto my photobucket acct and then attach them in a thread post, they look all pixelated (sp?) and horrible.
I take pics with a 8 mp Minolta Dimage Z2, as well as a 4 mp Casio, and it seems to happen with all shots from both cameras.
I see many posted pics that are decent size and are nice and clear.
What am I screwing up here?
Thanks in adv for any help.

Give me an example thread where this has happened to you.

In addition, when I am resizing pics, I use 2 different tools:

Irfanview and EZ Thumbnails. Both are freeware.

Irfanview does most of my cropping and resizing. But EZ Thumbnails sometimes does a better job when I reduce the size of the pic with both clarity and smaller kb.

My apologies fro not responding to your reply sooner.
I wanted to attempt to work out the issue on my own if possible, then I simply got caught up in other things and had to put this aside.
It's been awhile since I posted a pic in a thread, and I didn't take the time to pull any of the old threads up.
I have some pics in the C6ZO6 pic sticky that look ok, but they were taken with a older camera that was only like 2.5 pixel, so they were a smaller format to begin with.
I think I figured out at least part of the problem. I did not resize the recent pics I shot with the Minolta prior to uploading them on Photobucket. My guess is that when their site auto resized them, it killed the quality.
With the pics below, I have attempted to resize them myself first (using a basic free MS resize feature), then upload them to PB.
They look better, but are still not even close to being as clear as they are when I view them directly from my PC.
Any tips/suggestions, or is this about as good as they'll get?

EDIT- Now that I've posted them and taking a good look, they still look way off to me. When I look at the resized version in "My Pictures", they still have great clarity. Uploaded and posted in a thread, they look blurry. There's got to be a better way than what I'm doing.
