TTT is used to bring a thread to the top of the page. The threads are listed in order of their most recent post.
If a thread is not posted to in a long time, it will fall toward the bottom. 'TTT' or 'bump' is used to bring a thread back to the top of the page where it's more likely to be seen.
Oh, so when u TTT someones thread, then their post moves back up to the top of the post for what ever section they are in. So it does not drop below a bunch of new post/threads.

Yep, you're getting closer.
Many people (like myself) only look at the first dozen or so threads in a given section. We just don't feel like scrolling down to look at the older topics.
If a thread falls down toward the bottom of the page, a "TTT" will bring her back to up where people are more likely to see her.
