That is kind of lame. After how many years all our PM's have by default been saved. Now the change. I don't remember being notified of this change. Oh well, the forum is free so I shouldn't complain.
I believe the change was made due to folks not emptying their PM box. The sent items take up part of the total.
My guess is that to reduce the number of threads in off topic titled,"(Insert name here)! Clean out your INBOX!!" it was better to not save by default.
Also as a moderator if I need to contact you, I can't if your box is full.

Frank, I have to say it's a PITA to hit send and then remember that you didn't check the box. Is there a better, more user-friendly way to do this? If managing box size is the trick, perhaps a time limit that auto empties after 2 weeks or something. My Cingular voicemail box does that and it works.

I'll stick this in the suggestion box in the SC.
I agree with the default setting being set to "on". The SC is the best place to suggest it. You may want to see if it has been there before (I think I have seen it there) and "bump" it.
