I would go through the browser to clear all temporary internet files in case something there is "hanging" for you and cookies for your id.
Logging out of the forum and back in should clear them too, but under your situation, you do it often enough to think they should be cleared.
I might even try crapcleaner, a free utility to clear out things that otherwise might be missed.
Robert is probably more savvy than me in tracking down computer gremlins
.Otherwise, I am out of ideas...

Not the same computer, and I'm an IT gal, too. Forum logs me out a lot for some reason, since the upgrade. Logged out, cleared all cookies & temp files, but still get logged out without asking it to and get the error on searching. I'll try the cleaner. Thanks!

I can't think of anything else but the temp file and the cookies that would cause the difference. I am not sure if there are such items left on a server somewhere that may be causing that.
What browser and version are you using? I would try another one just to see if it made a difference. Maybe we can narrow down the issue.

* It works fine in IE, but I use Firefox. It's always worked fine for me before, but after the last forum upgrade, it logs me out and search gives me the database error.... not every time, but most times.Robert and I are on the same version of Firefox, as well. If I do a search and get the db error, I'll have him search for the same thing the same way and it'll work fine for him, which is why I thought maybe it had something to do with my profile/login.
As far as computers go, I'm on a thinkpad & he's on an inspirion... same OS... XP, mine has much better processing speed.

Crapcleaner didn't help then...correct?
Grasping at straws....if it is on the server side, I have no idea what to do.

When I worked in IT, we called this phenomenon wherein no one touches anything, but whatever was wrong is miraculously fixed "PFM." Pure F'n Magic.
Come to think of it, I didn't have to log back on today, either.
Thanks for all your help! Maybe one of your ideas & another reboot is what did it.

I used to make alot of money in "support" just by rebooting computers...
