When I submit a post or reply, why does the edit icon always show in my reply? I'm sure the reason is stated somewhere on this mountain of info, i just can't find it.

You are only allowed to edit your own posts.
Moderators can edit posts if the info is deemed inappropriate.
You would not want someone to edit someone else's posts. You would not want to post selling your vette for $29,000 and then have someone edit YOUR post to make it say $19,000.
