Jersey Jay deleted a link in a thread of mine and stated there is no cross-linking allowed, however when I asked what rules were broken I did not get an answer.. The link directed members to a BMW website in which 5 young adults died.. There was no objectionable material on the site, there was no discussion of racing or illegal activity, and it was not a corvette site.. The threaded started out with a post by an 18 year old who had a question about his M5, then a few days later another member linked an article about an 18 year old & his friends that died in a car accident. A tragic event that acts as a reminder to us all that as owners of fast cars we must be careful, use good judgment, and most of all keep our fast driving on the track.
If however I am wrong, and rules do not permit such linking, I request where in the rules that such an act is not permitted so I do not do it again. However if I am correct, I request that my original post be re-established.
Thank you,
John
According to the forum guidlines and rules:
No linking or posting of pornographic or objectionable material.
Do not discuss, suggest, engage, or encourage any illegal activity on the forums. Linking to locations that deal with any such activity are also forbidden.
crosslinking is discouraged mainly to keep people from linking to other threads on the forum for free posting, hijacking and bashing....other rules may apply ..YMMV

I cross linked to a thread on an entirely DIFFERENT forum.... not CF..

FWIW you never sent me a PM or email asking me why I deleted your link in the NE bar. Thus the reason why you never got an answer.

I would love to see where in the rules its states that linking members to another site isn't allowed.. If it doesn't maybe its time someone updates the rules so it doesn't seem like new rules are made everytime the wind changes..

I read a number of threads day in and day out so I never saw a question directed to me in a thread. If you have a question in the future send me an email or PM and I'll reply in a timely manor to you.

I guess the best answer I can give you is that JJ interpreted the rule to mean no crosslinking at all.
So I will leave you and Jay to work it out
BTW...you could have emailed any Mod for an answer but thanks for not starting another thread in the regular forums
Judgement call as I stated above. I thank you as well for not starting a thread in the general forums.

Being the help forum, I felt this was the correct platform for a clarification of a rule.
And still, without any proof clearly indicating that linking members to other forums is not allowed, I still don’t see how this is against the rules and would like for my post to be fixed..
We don't want our moderators to appear as unfair and unjust, deleting/modifying posts at will with unclear reason. Which is why I ask, again, where is states cross linking to other non-corvette forums is against the rules..
Thanks.
