"Friends" list

"Friends" list
OK, I've got all of these "friends" in my CP, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do anything with them. What's the point of having a list of "friends", if you can't send group messages, etc. Any use of it, or just a way to track down people ifyou forget there screen name??!!

ttt. i'm curious too. i also have a notification at the top of the page. i've checked it out and somebody wants to put me on their friends list. o.k. but what the heck does that do? how do i get rid of the notice?

Same here. Have a notification and tried to select it but it does absolutely nothing. Has been like that for days. I keep trying it but it has been wasted effort. 
Sames goes for the search function. Links from Yahoo and Google don't work that use to. Some evenings can't even get on the system.
I'm all for improvements and upgrades. But this one has been very painful.

To this point, selecting and hitting save changes worked well. Today, the request/accept isn't recognized, and still shows as an unread notification.

I don't know the answer to your question about the usefulness of the feature because I haven't had time to use it. I've gotten "friendship" requests from a number of people and my experience has been that the way it works seems to have changed.
The first requests I got, I had to click on the user ID that had submitted the requrest, which took me to their profile. While there, I had the option to "befriend" that person and did not.
Then, several days later, when I got some more friend requests, I tried that and there was no "befriend" place to click. Then, I checked the small box in the upper left corner of the person's avatar which appeared in the window where he person was waiting to become a friend. Then I clicked on "save changes" and it activated the friendship. Once I did that, the notice disappeared.
I'm not sure about the implications of this feature, but figured it never hurts to have friends.

This is the way it is working for me today. I tried the other process that you listed and that one did not work.
