Admins couldn't give a crap...
Feel free to jump right in there and help them get it fixed since you're paying for the privilege to be here...

The recent topics link is working, albeit slowly, so be patient. The admins and moderators don't have any control over what happened.

I made my post because this has been a great site and I prefer to use THIS site rather than going elsewhere. I'd prefer to see this site as great as it once was. As for free, I've purchased numerous products off supporting vendors here because of their support of the site. If that's what you consider "free" then so be it. The mods and admins have far more control to fix the issue or get the right person(s) working it than you or I can. They could at least post some updates rather than ignoring the issue and/or locking threads.

FYI, I just tried the recent topic link and it worked really quick, so they've fixed it or made advances. Yesterday, I couldn't get to work at all. For this time of evening, the site is a huge improvement over what it has been. That could be from reduced numbers of users or it could be they continue to fix the problems.
The admins/moderators are unpaid "employees/volunteers" of IB, the owner of this site and many other similar sites. They have to put up with the same issues as each of us. I doubt they had anything to say about which "computer geek" should be addressing the issues. In fact, the admins/moderators have stated that a number of techs are addressing numerous issues that have been pointed out.
If you want to blame someone for this fiasco, place the blame where it belongs...on the IB owners and the bean counters who made the decision to upgrade w/o first being certain it would work without glitches.
The threads they've locked are those that are not in this Help Forum, but in other forums like C5 General. They don't know what issues everyone is experiencing unless it's placed in one forum where it's all condensed. That's why this hasn't been locked down.

With respect to the "My Recent Posts", there seems, at least to me, a bit of interpretation as to what the term "works" means to different people. To me, "It Works" means that it functions as it did LAST MONTH... In other words, when I click on "MRT", I see any discussions I participated in, listed in an order that is determined by time of activity of that discussion, AND it is only posted ONCE. The discussions don't re-post every time somebody posts something new, and continue to add to the list.
Seconldy, "MRT" working also means that I can click under "Last Day", and see threads I participated in within the last 24 hours. As of yesterday, I could not do that.
The administrators are indeed volunteers, and I understand that. I don't pertend to thin they have any ownership in the site, and certainly wouldn't heap any criticism on them (EXCEPT for a couple of mods on the LS1Tech site who think they are owners...)
If our displeasure needs to be "vented" to a higher level, fine. There should be an "IB" web address readily available to us, so we don't have to burden the mods, and can directly tell the "IB" people what we think.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Wholeheartedly. To them though, it's probably just another website
As an example, back in 2000, Lincoln introduced the LS, the first fresh, new, US built, RWDer in quite a while. It stirred a certain amount of interest within the "sports sedan" crowd over on Edmunds.com. In time, a number of us, myself included, bought one, and our participation on Edmunds' board swelled.
So far, so good, however Edmunds didn't seem to care for the idea that we were starting to monopolize thir site, mentioning specific products and/or dealers that didn't support their site. They tried to choke us off.
We responded....One of the more vocal posters started up his own site, the "Lincoln LS Owner's Club". It costs $40/year. I've been a member for 7 years, since the beginning. I consider it money well spent, especially since FoMoCo dropped the car from their line up 2 years ago.
There's no reason that someone couldn't do the same for Corvette owners, as it seems the interest is there. Secondly, the cost could be a LOT less, as there are more people to draw from.

The fact is that the site's moderators and administrators have no control over the technical side of the site. The IB tech staff has been working hard on identifying the problems we've experienced during the past week and believe they have identifed several simultaneous problems which interacted and resulted in the performance issues we've observed.
They've had hardware, software and database technicians working on the issues.

We have not had the level of communications that might have been ideal by providing regular updates on the situation, but given the choice, I'd prefer to let the tech folks concentrate on fixing the problems, rather than talking about fixing the problems.
YMMV
Nevertheless, there have been a number of announcements and dozens of posts in this other sections addressing the recent posts search issue you address in this post.
It is useful in identifying and resolving issues as they arise to use this section to make specific reports on problems and to ask questions about how to do something you might be having problems with and can't figure out on your own.
It frustrates the process and further frustrates the moderators, administrators and participants on the site to resort to bashing and hostility.
