Did you click "save changes" after deselecting the box?

Did you check the box in the avatar or the box that says "friend"?

Based on what you are saying, it sounds like you have a list of people who have requested friendship status, rather than people who have been accepted as friends.

I say that because when I go to my profile, I see a list of people who I accepted as friends after they requested it. There are no blocks to check. Instead, to the right of the list of names/avatars is a link that says, "break friendship."

I presume that hitting that link would take them off my list.

Send me a request for friendship so I'll have one pending and can tell you how to reject it before it is accepted.

Okay, I got your friend request and I'll attach a screenshot on what it looked like:

"Friends request-1"

I cicked on the little box at the top left of each of the two avatars in the incoming friend requests. Then, I clicked on accept and then save changes.

Then, "Friends Request-2" shows what the screen looked like with each of those friend requests being accepted.

Just went back to my profile and will attach a screenshot of my friends list. To the right of each name, you click on "break friendship."

I went to the "usercp", selected "contacts & friends" under "networking" and see that I have a listing for all of the people who requested friendship. That's the control page where you can add or remove friends.

I followed the instructions on that page to remove you from the listing to see what would happen and if you would still appear on the page.

"To remove a user from your contacts, un-check the box associated with their avatar and click the 'Save Changes' button."

When I un-checked the box in your avatar and clicked save changes, you disappeared from the page.

Are you saying that when you follow that procedure, the people you have elected not to be friends with are still showing?

Can you send me a screen shot of what you are seeing? It sounds like we aren't seeing the same thing in the usercp and that's certainly a possibility since I'm in the admin user group.

Meanwhile, send me a friendship request and I'll put you back on my list.

Took a while to figure it out, but the screen shot you sent me via PMs did the trick. Glad you were able to get it figured out.

For the benefit of others who might be having similar problems, there are two boxes that can be checked under networking/contacts & friends -- one in the upper left corner and one in the lower right corner of each friend or friend request.

When the instructions say to check the box in the avatar, they are talking about the one in the upper left corner.

I found this thread while searching - I have a hell of a time accepting friends. I've tried everything. Every once in a while I'm successful, but never sure what I did that worked. I've tried accpeting a friend since last night, and it still shows up as a "notification".

But my other question is this - what the hell is a friend? I have not figured out what it gets me (or them). Is there somewhere that explains all this to us?

Thanks!!!

<<EDIT>> Okay, I took the advice above and checked the box in the avatar - that worked! Now I just need to know what a friend is. I guess I'm not used to having friends.
