Currently all I see is a "soft delete" option, which still show that there was a message there. There should be a "hard delete" option available to us also, but I don't see one. That may be an IB administrative option they have to set.

This can be fixed by setting under "edit options" in User CP to uncheck
"visitor messages".

I believe he means he wants to completely remove the messages...like the one below.

I understand...my previous post explains how to get rid of what you
showed in the thumbnail. I just did it myself, having the same problem.

Checkout the post by Pipedreams in the below thread. It works.

Yes, I see that will hide them. But they will come back it you check that box again. In addition, if you un-select that box, will you be able to receive visitor messages any longer?

Oh, I see! I just tried re-checking the box and it did come back. And yes, if you deselect that box you will no longer get any visitor messages. But not getting them is OK for me. Thanks!

PS-This needs to be fixed by somebody.

I would like to hard delete visitor messages (i.e. delete the deleted messages), but still keep visitor message capability enabled. Can a moderator do this?

Has there been any resolution to this? I am having the same issues. It seems it has to be addressed to web administrator. I cannot believe that it is taking this long to address this issue.

this thread started in Oct 2008 and still no resolution?

some folks that have paid premium membership should not have to "just deal with it".

I know it can be fixed, they just need to do it.

Actually, if I recall correctly - and I just looked at the permissions here on CF to ensure this - this is not an issue isolated to Corvette Forum. You can only "soft delete" messages, which is why you'll still see the remains of a deleted message.

Currently, there is no option in the vB software that allows the option for users to "hard" (completely) remove the message. Therefore, CF cannot offer it to users.

then sounds like they need to contact the VB software folks for a patch to correct the situation....why did we pay them then if they cannot get a patch to resolve the issue?
