The list is updated. In case you weren't aware, unregistered and not logged in users who happen to visit your profile will increase the visitor count, but will not change the names because unregistered and not logged in users aren't displayed as a visitor - yet they will increase the rank. In addition, if the same users visit your profile, they, too, will increase the visitor count. So those are two reasons why the visitor counter can increase, while the names don't change.
