Default Question

What is the purpose of the little purple envelopes on each post? Some are unopened, some open. I know what the moved one is(arrow added), but just can't determine the reason for an open or unopened envelope symbol.

But I have only been on the forum a couple of years.

That means no posts have been added to that thread since you opened that thread the last time.

When it becomes an opened envelope in brown, new posts have been added.

I just checked what you indicated. The envelope opens (brown) even if I have never looked at that post. It seems to be just a random thing.

It's not random. To clarify, it's not just about having viewed the thread or not.

An opened brown envelope means there is no content since your last visit or viewership of that thread. A closed blue envelope means there has been no added content to that thread since your last visit or viewership of that thread.

I see. "Last visit to the forum" is the key, not last time to actually open a specific post.
Thanks
