Default Question About Forum Website Function

I'm guessing this has to go to IBAdrian but maybe not.

Is it possible to configure the site to support the posting of links to an Advanced Search Results page?

To clarify, a member posts a question, I read it and realize it has been covered before so I do an Advanced Search. That search returns a page of, just as an example, 100 hits. I copy the address to that results page and paste it into a response. When I "preview" that post and click the link it opens the results page BUT after I post my response with that link in it the link no longer works. It returns a V-bulletin Message, "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Just asking. Thanks for considering.

I don't know if it will be changed. There has been a few vBulletin users who have noted this issue and suggested a way to share search results. But the reason why you're getting the error is because search results expire. The error message you receive is a bit misleading.

Thanks, that is what I assumed was happening so I thought I'd ask if things can be changed.

I'll be glad to forward your question to the IB tech folks, but my guess is what you are requesting would require a rewrite on the vBulletin software.

Unfortunately at this stage cannot support the linking (and storing) of search results - we have tried and it absorbs an exorbitant amount of hardware resources.
We are looking at alternatives to support this in the future, I can't at this stage say whether we will be able to do it, and if so what the timeframe will be.

Thanks for your question however!

Thank you for the reply!

A suggestion for consideration, rather than try to save ALL search results which would certainly be pointless, maybe there could be a way to make the save an Option, with a button, for cases where someone wants to refer someone to the results page as a link. Just thinking out loud. Thanks again.
