Pull up MY Computer>right click>properties>disk cleanup>Tools (do errors & defrag). This might really help you.
PS: I just reloaded my Video Drivers and it solved my multiple lines and helped steady my cursor.

After Zymurgy above quote, click on the "TOOL" tab above and you will find the "error AND defrag", follow instruction and run both, "error" will run on restart with blue screen.
Also, if still not running correctly on the line repeating, I believe on another tab there, you can update the drivers, try to use disk that came with your Video card to do this.

PS: Later I deleted Norton Antivirus and loaded AVG antivirus and it solved the problem, in fact, it fould other errrors which Norton did not detect. Someone posted that Norton was a resource hog. He was right! I have only had only a few, maybe three problems since.
