i was looking for a spot for explaination of your icons. specifically, i thought i would see some indication of my having posted in a particular thread. a checkmark or something showing as you scroll down the thread page?
No check mark on the thread title page that you've posted in a particular thread.
The envelope icon in the left margin of the titles turns blue right after you get through reading a thread and/or posting in it, but it becomes a brown open envelope again after someone else posts in it.
However, in the red menu bar, click on "My recent topics" and select for how many days. It will display the titles of all the threads you posted in during that period of time.
With the vBulletin software, there normally would be a black dot in the middle of one of the status icons to indicate you participated in a thread. However, CF has this feature turned off and has for some time. I believe it is due to performance reasons.
Basically, here on CF, this is all there is:
For looking at threads you've posted in, you can look into the My Recent Topics as that will show you recent threads that you participated in.

You can also click on the number in the "Replies" column which will give you a pop up box showing all who have posted and how many times. I use that all the time.
