Default Why do pic and link buttons no longer work

So for the last day or so the little picture icon and the link icons when I try to post, not longer work. I also can no longer modify an earlier post. It won't let me save my edits.

If I use HTML I can put images in, but not using the forum icons.

OK so it works in Internet Explorer, but no longer works with Firefox. I as a rule don't use IE so what has been done that makes these functions no longer work in Firefox?

This behavior would be consistent if javascript was disabled in your browser. It disables a lot of those automatic functions.

If this is not the issue, then the other issue is you have security software that is blocking, or your ISP cannot reach, ibsrv.net where some of the javascripts are served from. If that is the case, the same result will occur - those features will not work.

Java script is enabled. I believe Firefox update a few days ago and probably a bug in their update.

Could be, however, I'm running Firefox along with the latest update and I didn't experience the issue.

If it's not a javascript setting issue, and if it's not a bug with your browser, then it may be because your ISP/network cannot reach ibsrv.net - that is the domain that serves those javascripts that power the options that you noted aren't working. That domain is owned by the parent company that owns CorvetteForum, so it's legit. It's possible you have a security setting/software issue that is blocking the content from loading from that site.

Maybe it's along the same lines. Coincidentally, I'm also on FIREFOX with automatic updates enabled.

For the past few days, I am (now) unable to see my custom avatar or those of others. I've tried re-setting the avatar link with no luck.

I just added an album and cannot see those images there, either. I have no problem seeing images that are added to threads though.

It only happens on my computer, not my wife's computer which is connected via wireless modem.

Any suggestions?

Based on your input, as well as no other known reports, as well as my own experience, it sounds like it's an issue with your browser or 3rd party software/plugin issue on your browser/system.

I checked your account and you do have Show Avatars enabled.

Avatars are served from CF domain, so it's not like the scripts that power the buttons in the WYSIWYG editor where they're served "3rd party" and some security settings can disable such practices from working.

Are you running Adblock or other Firefox plugins? I ask because with a right-click, you can easily block images that match a pattern. Therefore, you may be blocking the entire avatar directory via Adblock.

I am running Adblock. The wife says we are not running any "plug ins". Are you the new moderator for the Help Forum? It's nice to get prompt replies.

I'll check into it further or call my local computer guru.

Thanks J T

Probably my wording, as I'd call Adblock a "plugin", but it's called an Extension under the Add-ons for Firefox.

I can think of two possibilities, blocking through Adblock or blocking through Firefox directly.

You can click on the ABP drop-down menu, click on Preferences, and see if under My Ad Blocking Rules you are blocking something like "|http://forums.corvetteforum.com/*", as that will disable Avatars and some other graphics from loading.

If not there, then it's also possible you may be blocking it in Firefox. Under Options, Load Images Automatically, there's an Exception button. Click on that and see if something like "http://forums.corvetteforum.com/" is listed as being blocked.

The images (icon buttons and attachments/avatars) on CF are served from different locations, so it does make sense that some graphics are loading and some not - if there is a blocking rule in place.

I'm actually not a moderator on this site or officially with CorvetteForum. I'm an Administrator on another site that is owned by the same company that owns CorvetteForum, and I have access here on CorvetteForum to try and help. I can try to assist, but when the issue appears to be a local issue (on your end), it can become difficult to resolve since we don't have access to a member's computer and members can have all sorts of different software and settings.

Let us know what you find and if you have further information.

I'll try both and let you know. Whatever it is, it hasn't effected the operation of the computer otherwise. It just bugs me that it started suddenly and probably related to the automatic updates.

Thanks again for your help.
